One month passed, much more to learn

It hard to believe that one month has already passed since I joined HERD. The time has flown so quickly. I feel like I have been here for long. My introduction here in the Monitoring and Evaluation (M & E) unit of HERD was quite different; much more than I had ever expected. I have worked in M&E sector for more than a year and am familiar to its related tasks, but here my knowledge is flourishing every single day.

Working here at HERD, I have learnt so much about myself. HERD has helped me greatly in developing my strengths and has provided me opportunities for improvement. I have greatly improved my confidence and my ability to make key decisions and to determine my own next steps with all of my work-streams. Furthermore, I have learned that I am particularly motivated by working with and supporting others, greatly enjoying the team-related activities. Although I am responsible for M & E related tasks supporting implementation for National Tuberculosis Programme (NTP) in 21 districts, I was also involved in logistic supply, documentation of programme related activities and even media monitoring, which provided me an extensive knowledge of health and social development sector at large.

I have always been convinced that environment plays much bigger part in our ability to expand our horizon of knowledge and give our best. I have found the same here, as I am thoroughly enjoying my workplace. I had chance to meet wide range of personalities who have really friendly, cooperative, kind and helpful because of which I do not feel tough to adapt to this new working environment. It seems that I did not require much time to become a member of HERD. The most important thing I like about HERD is that everyone is quite busy and dedicated to their work and assigned responsibilities.

I am very much grateful to Dr. Sushil Baral and the entire team of evaluation committee who provided me the opportunity to work here. There are still a lots of things that I would like to do and experience and learn here which will definitely broaden my horizon of knowledge, developing me into an experienced and competent M&E professional and moreover, a team player.
